body | When bubbles return, move to feeding every 12 hours. Each time: keep 25 g of starter, add 50 g of flour and 50 g of water. That is a 1:2:2 feed, by weight, of starter to flour to water.
After each feed, put the rubber band around the jar at the level of the mix. You are looking for the starter to double above the band in four to eight hours, with a domed top and bubbles all the way through when you look from the side. The smell should move toward yogurt, beer or green apple.
If it isn't moving by day 6, it is almost always too cold. Find a warmer spot before you change anything else. |
